The Recorder -
160 KB
2003, Sorin Manea
DESCRIPTION
This program has a Recorder, a Counter and a Player.
The Recorder displays stats and stores all your games in a dated file. Simply
keep
the Recorder open whenever you play. The Counter displays your game stats but
does not record.
The Player lets you look at stored files. You can view videos by choosing a date
and
searching for games based on level, completion percentage, 3bv, 3bv speed, and
time.
To save a video select a game, choose save and give it a name.
HISTORY
3BV was named in June 2002 and a program was written to analyse finished boards.
The only video program in use, Camtasia, created large file sizes and required
heavy
editing. Sorin Manea (Romania) created this program to record compact videos
storing
more information and requiring less editing. He succeeded in shrinking file size
by 1000%
and created a statistical display, allowing 3BV stats to be compared for the
first time.
The Minesweeper Board Reader 2.0
- 430 KB
2002, Benny Benjamin and Yoni Roll
DESCRIPTION
Displays 3BV count and version information for finished games. Offers a reduced
file
size for saved boards. [BMP (24-bit) is 550, BMP (256 colour) is 180, PNG is 30,
and MRB is only 0.25 KB.]
HISTORY
3BV was discovered early in 2002, and Benny Benjamin (Australia) released a
counting
program in June. He then passed it to Yoni Roll (Israel) who translated it from
Visual
Basic into Delphi and added more features.

| WEP, Winmine 3.1 | |
|
Minesweeper was released on October 8, 1990, when Microsoft published the first Windows Entertainment Pack. WEP was the first set of games developed specifically to run in Windows rather than in DOS. Although the Windows Entertainment Pack introduced Minesweeper, the game had to wait another two years for international recognition. On April 6, 1992, Minesweeper was released with Windows 3.1. |
| Winmine 95, Winmine 98, Winmine ME | |
| The original Minesweeper yet with new graphics and help file. Released August 25, 1995 and retained for later versions. |

| Winmine 2000, Winmine XP | |
Released February 17, 2000 and retained for XP. Completely new graphics and help file. Beginner grid enlarged from 8x8 to 9x9. Timer corrected to prevent the jump of earlier versions. Also recognises one click games in Beginner and Custom, where the timer in earlier versions continued counting. |
The WEP Helpfile, 30 KB
1990, October 8
DESCRIPTION
This is the original Winmine helpfile, before it came with Windows. The main
text was
written by Donner himself, with final editing from other sources. If you are
curious, the
"Big Step" feature is the effect from chording on flagged areas: a pre-release
featured
the cursor as a foot, that exploded into a bloody stump when a mine was stepped
upon!
The Winmine 3.1 Helpfile, 30 KB
1992, April 6
DESCRIPTION
The second release of the Helpfile is nearly identical to the WEP version,
except for a
scaled down introduction.
